The Department of Public Works consists of the Commissioner of the Public Works, Osvaldo Reyes, the Foreman, Hector Torres, ten laborers and a secretary. The hours of regular operation are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. You can call 845-429-2562. For emergencies after hours, please contact the Town of Haverstraw Police at 845-354-1500.

The DPW is responsible for road maintenance and plowing of village-owned streets, maintaining village properties, maintaining village parks, street signage and general village upkeep on public property and streets.

The DPW also, upon request, is responsible for brush and leaf collection, appliance, tire and e-waste recycling, and will also pick up small quantities of residential construction debris, not exceeding two 35-gallon pails per week.  Although we do not pick up recycling the DPW will drop off recycling bins when requested.  Requests for waste pickup or recycling bin drop off can be made using this form  Waste Pickup Request Form or by calling to be added to the list.  Pickups and Drop Offs typically happen on Thursdays.

The DPW does not handle garbage collection or recycling. This is handled by Hiep Sanitation.  We do, however, have available for pick up at our facility at 115 Bowline Plant Road, leaf bags.  If there is a problem with your collection, you can call Village Hall at 845-429-0300. We remind everyone that garbage and recycling should not be placed out for pick up before 6:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled collection, and empty cans and containers should be removed from the street by the end of the day on the day of collection.

We also remind all residents that from November 15th through March 31st you must follow the winter parking rules.
